About us
The Tayside Hotel came under the new ownership of Joanne and Neil Hardy in May 2007. Since then the Hotel has flourished under a new style of management and a new lease of life which is commented on by many who visit us.
The refurbishment of the Guest Rooms has continued with three rooms redecorated and refurnished, along with the installation of new 'flat-screen' televisions through the Hotel which not only offer complete access to the Freeview Digital System but also a wide range of connectivity methods for personal media devices (i.e. MP3 players, etc).
The Public Bar has undergone a face lift along with the installation of a 'super large' video screen courtesy of a multi-media projector showing a screen of around 6ft by 5ft for major sports events (or fantastic Wii game evenings!). There is also a new Juke Box using digital technology which can play almost any Top-40 hit since 1950!
We have recently completed the installation of Wi-Fi throughout the Hotel, including the Function Room. A service we offer free-of-charge to guests and customers alike. The Function Room itself received a much needed face lift which was completed in 2010 with a new colour scheme, a completely re-built Gents toilet facility and the purchasing of new banquet seating and tables.
2010 also saw the installation of double glazed windows across the whole of the first floor, offering modern energy saving and noise reducing benefits but in sash & case style so in-keeping with the style of the Hotel.
2010 also saw Joanne receive her nomination as Licensee of the Year to the Scottish Licensed Trader News Awards. The Gala Dinner was held at the Glasgow Hilton in November 2010 and although Jo wasn't lucky enough to receive the award she did receive a "Highly Commended" for coming in the top three judges choices - a remarkable achievement for someone so young and so recently into the licensed trade.
The Hotel has also been awarded "Best Newcomer 2010" from the Tayside Branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) following our introduction of 3 real-ale pumps through which we serve a regularly changing array of guest ales from across Scotland and the wider UK.
We are pleased to have made such an impact on the Hotel and the Village and we look forward to many more years to come improving the services we offer and increasing the standard of accommodation of cuisine to keep up with our Guests expectations.
We know that the Tayside is continually going through a remarkable transition, and this delightful small hotel still bears testimony to the golden age of touring and sporting activity and has carefully retained all that unmistakable character and personality, and many artefacts of a bygone era.
