There are plenty of activities you can do without having to pile everyone & everything into the car...
Stanley is extremely lucky to have some wonderful local walks of varying lengths which will take you around the local area as well as being close to national walks which can form part of specialist walking holidays.
We strongly advise that you wear clothing appropriate for the time of year (and remember this is Scotland so be well prepared!) and that you make yourself aware of the route before departing.
Specially produced leaflets detailing the walks are available from the Hotel or from the website of the Stanley Development Trust.
The Development Trust has invested in numerous paths around the village and on its boundaries which offer varying lengths of walk giving you fantastic views of the local area:
- Shielhill Walk
- Ballathie Path
Mountain Bike Trails
Five Mile Wood is just 2 miles from the Hotel and the Development Trust has established a number of trails for mountain bike riders.

Just 10 minutes walk on the edge of the village is the Active Kid park. Featuring an outdoor adventure park and an indoor soft-play alongside coffee and gift shops the park is aimed at younger children and will keep them amused for hours. The whole park is open from April to October 7 days a week with the coffee shop and indoor play open til Christmas with an annual visit from Santa in December every year!
